If you plan to study in British Columbia for six months or more, it is mandatory to have medical coverage through the Medical Services Plan (MSP). After registering for MSP, you will receive a BC Services Card in the mail. This card serves as proof of your health insurance and should be carried with you whenever you visit a doctor or hospital.
It’s important for students to note that the card remains valid as long as the study permit is active. Be sure to update your MSP coverage when renewing your permit, and make timely monthly payments to keep your insurance valid. We recommend applying for MSP soon after your arrival to avoid any gap in your health coverage. For detailed information and application, visit the official BC MSP website.
