Minimum Qualification:

12 years of secondary study

At least 19 years of age.

A Canadian Secondary School Diploma; a GED certificate, or evidence of successful completion of at least 12 years of secondary study.

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through prior education in English at grade 10 level or higher or through an English language assessment (IELTS 5.5 or evidence in a standard test score equivalency).

Admission Requirements

  1. Be at least 19 years old.
  2. Have a Canadian Secondary School Diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent credential.
  3. Demonstrate English proficiency through:
  4. Completion of education in English at the grade 10 level or above. OR
  5. Standardized tests like IELTS (minimum score of 5.5) or equivalent:
    • TOEIC (minimum score of 85)
    • TOEFL IBT (minimum score of 46)
    • TOEFL PBT (minimum score of 310)
    • And so on.

  2. Develop effective communication skills, visual poise, and respect for delivering excellent client service.
  3. Impart training for students to master basic manipulative skills in men’s hairstyling, haircutting, clipper work, hot shaves, and current trends.
  4. Develop analytical skills to determine the best hairstyle for a client’s overall image.
  5. Use learned theory, technical information, and industry knowledge during training to prepare the students so they can make sound judgements and decisions during barbering procedures.

Students are tasked with lesson studies and provided with a set of practical score sheets (rubrics) for developing program tasks. Theoretical understanding is assessed after each unit of study, while practical skills are evaluated using rubric evaluation sheets, textbook procedures, and performance standards aligned with industry competency benchmarks. 

To pass the course, students must maintain a minimum standard of 70% and successfully pass both a final written and practical exam. Any failed or missed tests, as well as incomplete assignments, must be made up by the students

39 hours of studying and training with our master barbering instructor, with flexible scheduling options available (1-2 days per week).

This program does not require approval by Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills. As such, PTIRU did not review this program.
