At Orane International College Canada, the well-being of our students, staff, and visitors is paramount. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe and healthy environment by adhering to the latest standards set by WorkSafeBC and other relevant authorities. Our Safety policies are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.

 Annual Policy Review & Reporting Procedures

To ensure ongoing compliance and safety:

  • Annual Reviews: Our Safety guidelines undergo a comprehensive review each year to incorporate any new regulations or improvements.

  • Immediate Reporting: Any potential breaches or safety concerns should be reported immediately to an Instructor, Onsite Administrator, or  Supervisor.

  • Response Timeline:

  • Urgent Concerns: Addressed promptly upon reporting.

  • Non-Urgent Issues: Documented and reviewed by the SEA within 72 hours.

 Fire Safety Protocols

In the event of a fire emergency, the following procedures are in place:

1.   Equipment Maintenance: The Onsite Administrator ensures that fire suppression equipment is available throughout the campus and inspected annually by qualified professionals.

2.   Staff Training: All employees receive training on operating fire suppression equipment and understanding evacuation procedures.

3.   Emergency Exits: Clearly marked emergency exit instructions and route maps are posted in each classroom.

4.   Emergency Response:

  • Staff will immediately contact emergency services (911), providing details about the fire’s nature and location.

  • Evacuation if needed ,will be guided by staff instructions.

5.   Student Accountability: Staff will lead students to safe locations, check attendance, and inform emergency personnel of any absentees.

6.   Liaison Role: The Onsite Administrator acts as the liaison between fire officials and the college community and will authorize campus closure if necessary.

7.   Re-Entry: No one may re-enter the campus until fire officials have declared it safe.

Earthquake Preparedness

Given our location in a seismically active region, we have established the following earthquake safety measures:

1.   Securing Hazards: The Onsite Administrator ensures that items like file cabinets and shelving are secured to prevent injuries during an earthquake.

2.   Training: Employees receive training on earthquake evacuation procedures.

3.   Emergency Instructions: Emergency instructions and exit route maps are prominently displayed in each classroom.

4.   During an Earthquake:

  • All individuals should take cover and remain under cover until the shaking stops.

  • Once safe, the evacuation process will proceed under the personalised direction of the staff.

5.   Post-Evacuation:

  • Instructors will lead students to designated safety areas, take attendance, and report any missing persons.

  • The Onsite Administrator will coordinate with rescue officials and decide on campus closure if necessary.

6.   Re-Entry: Re-entry into the campus is only permitted once officials have confirmed it is safe.

Staying informed about the latest regulatory changes at WorkSafeBC (Workers’ Compensation Board of British Columbia, a statutory agency that oversees workplace safety and compensation in the province) is crucial. Below are key amendments from WorkSafeBC that impact our safety practices:
